Account & team
Your account is email + password, hardened with 2FA if you want it — and your team joins with exactly the access their role grants.
Signing in
Butterbase uses email and password. Forgot yours? The reset link on the sign-in page sends a fresh start to your inbox.
Two-factor authentication
In the web app's settings, Set up 2FA protects sign-in with a time-based code from an authenticator app, backed by one-time backup codes for when the phone isn't around. Store the backup codes somewhere real — they're shown once. Turning 2FA off requires your password.
Your profile
Name and email live in Settings → Profile. Changing a verified email sends a confirmation to your current inbox first, and other sessions are signed out when it goes through. Password changes ask for your current password.
Sessions
The sessions list shows every device signed into your account — "Chrome on macOS, 2 hours ago" — and any of them can be revoked with one click. See something you don't recognize? Revoke it and change your password.
Team & roles
Three roles, in descending order of power:
- Owner — everything, including plan & billing.
- Admin — day-to-day management, including clients and bakery settings.
- Member — the bench: recipes, production, inventory, selling.
Invites go out by email with the role attached — the invitation shows "You'll join as…" before anything is accepted. Invitations expire and are single-use; if one fails, send a fresh link.
