Getting started
From a blank account to a working bakery: sign up, answer three questions, and start costing. Here's what each step actually does.
Create your account
Sign up at my.butterbase.app with your email and a password. New accounts go straight into bakery setup.
Set up your bakery
Setup is three short steps, and nothing in it is permanent:
- Your bakery. Name it, pick your currency, and choose metric or imperial units. These drive how every cost and quantity displays.
- How you sell. Pick what applies — Markets & popups, Custom orders, or Wholesale. This tailors what Butterbase puts front and center; you can sell through any channel later regardless.
- Done. You land on your dashboard.
Your first costed recipe
Head to Recipes and create one: name, category, what it yields, and the ingredient lines. Ingredient lines pull cost from your inventory items automatically — or take a manual amount if you haven't stocked the pantry yet. The full mechanics live in Costing & recipes.
A practical order of operations: add your core ingredients in Inventory first (with a purchase price), then build recipes on top — costs fill themselves in.
Invite your team
From Settings → Team, invite by email and choose a role — Admin or Member (you're the Owner). The invite link lands in their inbox; if they don't have an account yet, they create one and the invitation follows them through sign-up.
Team members & roles are part of Pro — solo bakers don't need a plan for everything else here. See Billing & plans.
